Welcome to StrengthofUs!
I will be posting, highlighting and promoting content I think you may like. When you see something has been posted by me, that means it is content that has been approved and developed by the StrengthofUs team, unless otherwise indicated.
I would like to direct you to groups that I think you would be interested in joining. StrengthofUs has seven resource groups on topics that young adults have identified as important to them, including Taking Charge, On Our Own, Campus Life, Relationships, Educate Yourself, Friends and Family and Express Yourself. These groups include content that young adults have developed and approved and that I have posted and uploaded. They also include discussion groups where you can chat about the issues that matter to you. These groups are located in the Resources pull-down menu that is accessible on every page.
We have also added two new sections, Think Positive and Vent This, which are located on the homepage. These groups give you the opportunity to share hopeful, encouraging and positive words or vent the challenges and frustrations of living with a mental health condition.
I have also developed state-based groups so you can access resources in your community and connect with other young adults in your neck of the woods. Feel free to add anything to your state-based group that you think will be helpful to others. Lastly, I developed a Chit/Chat Group where you can talk about whatever interests you and a Feedback Group where you can let me know what you think about StrengthofUs. You can easily find all these groups by using the search function at the top of every page or browsing the Groups page.
Other than these groups and resources, the rest of the online community is developed by users like you! Our team designed this site to be user-driven, so it’s what you make it. Feel free to create, post and share files, pages, groups, messages, events, blogs, comments and other content you think your peers will find valuable. You can easily friend other users by visiting their profile or clicking their profile icon. You can find other users by visiting the Members page located in the Tools pull-down menu. Most users also hang out on The Wire (a twitter-like feature) so you can find them there too.
I will be showcasing a new user every month who has been nominated by their peers to be Member of the Month on StrengthofUs, so be sure to message me with any of your nominations. Also expect to see some guest bloggers on the website—tell me what you want to know about, and I’ll try my best to give you expert knowledge and first-hand experience through guest bloggers.
